Florence Crighton was born in South Gippsland, Victoria; and has always been inspired by the colours of the area from the green rolling hills to the blues of the local surf beaches close by.

Having always been interested in art, it wasn't until her family had grown and work commitments subsided that time permitted her to take up watercolour painting in 1987.

Mainly self-taught with occasional tuition, Florence committed herself to watercolour, occasionally dabbling in oils and pastel although always returning to her watercolour passion.

Winning her first highly commended at the Leongatha Art Show twelve months after starting encouraged her to continue with added enthusiasm. Going on to win a number of first prizes and countless highly commended awards, many of those in local area competitions - Tarwin Lower, Meeniyan, Mirboo North, Corinella and King Valley.

Florence has hosted four solo exhibitions and many joint exhibitions, resulting in numerous sales of which some of those have been hung in overseas locations - USA, Canada and Japan.
